In a complicated system of multiple networks and LANs, it is best to use direct communication where permissible. However, should company policy force the use of a gateway, or should a source and network be unable to adequately filter for narrow interest or slow receivers, utilize the 29West Gateway, built into our LBM, UME and UMQ messaging platforms.

Our latest release of the 29West Gateway allows simplified configuration across a WAN, including multiple firewalls and geographies, and is more resilient and scalable than ever before.

Features of the 29West Gateway (as of LBM 4.1, UME 3.1, UMQ 1.1, August 2010):

  • Bi-directional message flow
  • Multi-hop forwarding with loop prevention
  • Support for Guaranteed Delivery (UME) and Request/Response
  • Work around policies preventing direct communication
  • Slow receiver: Message drop policies with notification
  • Narrow interest: Receiver interest filtering performed in the gateway (TCP, source-side filtering)
